He appeared in such notable films as Towering Inferno, Sauvez le tigre (1973), Les diamants sont éternels (1971), Bloodsport - Tous les coups sont permis (1988), La Planète des singes (1968), and La planète des singes (1974).Burton moved from Prescott, Arizona to Ajijic, Mexico. He was killed in a car crash on the California/Arizona border while returning to his home in Mexico in late 2003, six days before what would have been his 80th birthday. A widower, Burton was survived by his daughter, two grandsons, a niece and a nephew.
