Nevelina Popova was born on Aug 14, 1955 in Bulgaria. Nevelina Popova's big-screen debut came with Otrazheniya directed by Rumyana Petkova in 1982.

Nevelina Popova was born on 14th of August 1955 in Bulgaria. She studied film theory of the drama in the script writing department of VGIK - The Institute of Cinematography, Moscow, Russia in the class of prof. Yosif M. Manevich and Evgenii Grigoriev. She graduated from VGIK in 1977. Years later she studied pedagogy in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" (1990 -1995). From 1979 to 1991 she worked as a Script Consultant in the Script Department of Boyana Film Studio, Sofia. She also worked as a teacher in secondary schools from 1992 to 2004. Since 1995 she has been teaching Scriptwriting at New Bulgarian University, Department of Cinema, Advertising and Show business. At present she is Associate Professor in Film and Animation script writing. Her PHD thesis is "The Dramaturgical Space of Animation". She is the scriptwriter of the following realized films: Spirit and Matter (2014), documentary, 90', directed by Michail Venkov; The Travelling School of Todor Gladkov (2008), documentary, 40', directed by Ivan Traikov; The Other Possible Life of Ours (2004), feature, 115', directed by Rumyana Petkova; Listen to the Stars (2003), feature, 45' - an adaptation of short stories by Angel Karaliychev, directed by Michail Meltev; Coming Down to Earth (1987), feature, 113', directed by Rumyana Petkova; Unnecessary Interval (1986), feature, 51', directed by Mina Stoykova; People, Years, Metal (1986), doc., 56', directed by Rumyana Petkova; Reflections (1982), feature, 105', directed by Rumyana Petkova. She is the script editor of : Mayor, Mayor (1989), f.; Longings about the White Road (1988), f.; Eva on the Third Floor(1987) f. etc. Two scripts of her have passed through the competition in the National Film Center of Bulgaria; they both are at different stage of their realization: "The Last Walk with the Master" (2012), animation, 16'; directed by Marina Roussinova; - is in the process of completing; the second - "In the Shades of August" (2011), feature, 100', is a modern adaptation of Chekhov's "Seagull". Nevelina Popova is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers, Bulgarian Association of Film, TV and Radio Scriptwriters, "Academica" Association.
