Maya Post is an American actress. Born Maya Siobhan Flock in Saint Petersburg, FL to Mark Flock (a marine biologist) and Noa Spector-Flock (an ex-professional dancer). While growing up, Maya's mother was a dance teacher at a performing arts school and encouraged her from a young age to engage and learn about the arts. As a child she trained at the Academy of Ballet Arts, specializing in classical ballet. She then went on to begin her acting training at PCCA who have turned out such artist as- Ephraim Sykes, William Joseph Stribling, Calvin Royal III, Samuel Froeschle and countless others.She continued her training after moving to NYC at MSM (famously attended by the likes of Harry Connick Jr., Herbie Hancock and Susan Graham) specializing in voice under tutelage of Ashley Putnam. She simultaneously took humanities courses through the prestigious Columbia University. In her second year, she went for her first professional audition and ended up booking and beginning her long relationship with her on stage career in West Side Story. This specific production celebrated West Side Story's 50th anniversary and was directed by Joey McKneely. The show had a limited run in the West End in London and earned an Olivier nomination in 2009. Maya returned for the world tour visiting over 12 countries across Europe, Asia and her mothers home country, Israel. While in Israel, a local news network aired a special segment on Maya performing in Israel and for her grandmother for the first time. Maya met her husband Edd Post at the tail end of the tour, when he joined the cast as a replacement in Bordeaux, France.In 2012 Maya joined Arthur Laurents new touring production of West Side Story that featured Lin Manuel Miranda's spanish lyrics. After which, she was invited to rejoin the London cast of West Side Story in 2013 for another limited run, during which, Maya appeared on iTV's "this morning" for press relating to the show.After her second run in the West End, she was asked to stay and help originate the role of "the Rose" in Nick Lloyd Webber and Jamie Reid's production of the little prince at the Savoy Theater, London, UK.A few months later, she relocated to London while Edd was starring in Jersey Boys in the West End. During which she filmed a commercial for Head and Shoulders.Notably, Maya was a part of Shape History's campaign "Aleppo's child" to help bring awareness to the Syrian refugee crisis. She also filmed "Stray Balls" that also stars SNL legend, Jane Curtain and Caitlin Mehner.In fall 2017, she collaborated with Brett Leigh on a short film "Volumn 1: The Mind", a film set to explore the part within every person that gets locked away due to society and culture depicting we should constrain ourselves to what is expected rather than what's possible. Upon completing "Volumn 1: The Mind", they began pre production for another short entitled, "Denodnaba", a film tackling the ways we psychologically cope with trauma and grief.
