Katherine (Katey) Barrett was born on December 9, 1933. She grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota and re-located to Hollywood, California after college to pursue a career in acting. She made guest appearances in episodes of "My Three Sons", "Bonanza" and "Dragnet" to name a few. While working as a production assistant on the television show "Mission Impossible", Ms. Barrett purchased an inexpensive 35mm camera. Her interest in photography grew which eventually led to freelance jobs in the field that included taking photographs of her friend's horses. Television Producer and racing enthusiast, Ed Friendly introduced Ms. Barrett to the world of horse racing and the beauty of Santa Anita Park where she began to take unique photographs of the race track and its horses. Her extensive photography collection was acquired in 2014 by the Keeneland Library in Lexington, Kentucky to preserve for its art and historical value.
