Joe Haworth comes from a theatrical family. His father William Haworth was a famous playwright; his uncle, Joe Haworth, was a top actor of the American stage in the last century, working with such greats as Edwin Booth. His brother-in-law was character actor Wallace Ford, and a brother, Ted Haworth, was an Academy Award-winning Art Director. Joe made his first stage appearance as "Tiny Tim" in his grammar school play of "A Christmas Carol", and later appeared on the New York stage, as well as operating his own theatre in Nyack, New York. He came to Hollywood and made his film debut in 'Gung Ho!': The Story of Carlson's Makin Island Raiders (1943). When actor Jack Randall (aka Jack Randall) was killed on the first day of filming The Royal Mounted Rides Again (1945), it was Joe who replaced him. In addition to his acting, Joe was a noted photographer in Hollywood for publicity shots of both the stars and for the movies.
