Joseph Anthony Bongiovanni was born on March 4, 1988 in Hartford, Connecticut. His mother, Elizabeth Brown, is of Irish descent and is a writer and an English teacher. His late father, Michael Joseph Bongiovanni, was of Italian descent, and was a green beret in the U.S. Army. Joe served five years training in an airborne infantry unit in Alaska, and one combat tour in Afghanistan. Immediately after moving to Los Angeles, he received his Bachelor's degree in writing and started studying as an observer at The Actors Studio in West Hollywood.He was nominated "Best Actor" for the Blow-up International Arthouse Film Festival 2020 for his supporting role in the feature film "The Big Nothing".He passed his preliminary audition at The Actors Studio with Rachel Rambaldi September 30th, 2018.He was personally made a working finalist at The Actors Studio in November 2019 by Lou Antonio.He received an Honorable Mention in the Independent Shorts Awards: "Best Acting Duo: Avi Boyko and Joseph Bongiovanni for Milo" October 2018.He was nominated in the category of "Best Ensemble Play or Musical" by the Valley Theatre Awards for the lead role of Tommy Corelli in an original play called Thicker Than Water.
