James Reid Boyce was born, in Palo Alto, California, the third child of Mary Anderson Tomlinson & Richard Dudley Boyce. He attended grade school in Huntington Beach, California, & graduated from the Webb School in Claremont, California, in June, 1975. While a senior at Webb School he taught art & was very active in their theatre programs. Jim graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, where he majored in dramatics & technical theatre; he has enjoyed a number of leading roles in major productions & in musicals such as Sutherland's Law, The Omega Factor, A Sense of Freedom, Slumber Party Massacre, M*A*S*H, Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment, Knots Landing, Taggart, The Bogie Man, Sisters, Ed Wood, Crimson Tide, The Slab Boys, Crime & Punishment in Suburbia, and The Seller. He retired from acting to become a teacher.
