Jan Dunn was born on May 15, 1963 in UK. Jan Dunn's big-screen debut came with Gypo directed by Jan Dunn in 2005.

Multi award winning producer, writer and director. One of the first British filmmakers to be listed on the Hollywood Director's List, an initiative set up to begin a list of women directors with at least one feature film credit or television drama to promote more women working behind the camera. Her first film, Gypo, was listed as No10 of the top ten dogme95 films ever made, as per dogme rules she is not credited as director, she also wrote the screenplay. Growing up poor herself, in 2010 she founded the charity Kent Film Foundation in Thanet to help mentor and support the next generation of young filmmakers experiencing a poverty of opportunity including LGBT youth and girl's in particular. The charity has won awards for 'unlocking opportunities'
