James DeVoy was born on May 08, 1960 in USA. James DeVoy's big-screen debut came with Advice and Dissent directed by Leib Cohen in 2002, strarring Police Officer. James DeVoy is known for Mystic River directed by Clint Eastwood, Sean Penn stars as Jimmy Markum and Tim Robbins as Dave Boyle. The upcoming new movie James DeVoy plays is Still Green which will be released on May 15, 2009.

James was raised in South Boston, Massachusetts where he thrived in sports, Golden Gloves Boxing being his first love and savior. Born May 8, 1960, Mother's Day, at the Boston City Hospital, 9 lbs 10 Oz.James Malcolm DeVoy, was named after his grandfather. James has 4 brothers and 2 sisters, and was the sixth child. James played sports by day and early evenings and drank beer and drove cars till all hours of the night with his much older friends, starting at around age of 7, he was a pretty adventurous little kid.He had two groups of friends with whom he would hang out with, during the day the athletes; but in the midnight hours James mostly hung out with the older crowd and even partied in the company of his 5th grade teacher on a few occasions, while still in 5th grade, she was not aware of this at the time!He was out for adventure from a very early age and wore it like a badge of courage; but he always new something was not right, about the way he lived and how he felt inside and how he thought about himself and those around him and the world as a whole. He works on his life's Challenges today, on a daily basis.His first look at a Movie set was during the filming of Charley, which was filmed in Southie in 1967 and many scenes were shot on O St. and 2nd street, where James lived and grew up.At around 6 years old, James remembered watching the filming of the movie Charley, at M street Park, in South Boston. Charley was sitting on a swing, all alone with nothing but bright lights all around, he does not remember there being anyone else around him. The man was the actor, Cliff Robertson.To James this was a very magical event and he felt something very special inside, as he watched the silent action. It was like a dream state for James. He never forgot that feeling and a little dream was born; but placed on the back burner for a long time.James used Boxing as an outlet for his feelings of anger and fear; but mostly for his desire to entertain and had a great record in the Ring, he says "find someone who can truly say they actually beat him in the ring!" That's what he remembers it anyway???For 10 year run James Boxed in The Golden Gloves and also played Ice Hockey, which was his 2nd love. He thanks his mother for giving him the gift, of being allowed to play Ice Hockey, all the support she gave him, trying to help him be happy and feed his dreams.James took a more negative path, when he was 15 or so, having a little to much fun, for the next 10 years, getting nothing much achieved; but chasing girls, drinking beer, he lost all direction. He has some very serious regret for those years; but they are remember when's and he learns from his difficult past.James gave up most of his partying for 8 years or so and went to college at one point part time, very slowly, for 4 years and actually found out he could learn and retain information, even though it was like climbing a mountain, even the smallest of tasks were difficult to walk thru some times; but still has a 3.0 GPA he may add to someday.In his early 30's James faced some fears, he had fear of flying, so he took flying lessons, he then tried some acting. He performed in 4 musical stage productions with The Charlotte Players in Port Charlotte, FL and it was very difficult; but he found some escape in this and some excitement.He then ventured into a few short college films in Boston, facing those fears still and then got a break as an extra in 2 feature films, one being Mystic River. He then landed a speaking role in the feature film, Still Green, filmed in Naples, FL.James also participated in a TV Pilot Called Orlando Blues Housewife Homicides, in which he had a lead role, he plays a Doctor of Psychiatry, married women being his specialty. This was a huge challenge for James and it was another way to get out of himself and face those *unfounded fears.James has to study very hard when learning lines; but is determined to get it right, at any cost. Cold readings are his worse enemy! Please give him the sides in advance, or just let him improvise and he wont disappoint, he claims?James has been married now, for over 17 years and has been with the same girl for over 29 years. He has 2 children, another fear he overcame, a boy 10 and a girl 7, she has Juvenile Diabetes and he hopes someday, to be able to make a difference, by helping in anyway he can, to let people know what a very sad and extremely stressful situation, children and their parents are placed in, having a Diabetic child. Nothing short of a cure is good enough, please believe him, he tresses.He go's on today chasing miracles for his family, he believes he would not be around today if he had not been lucky enough to have been blessed with his family, they some how need him and love him as he is, unconditionally. He trusts in God for hope and strength, to show him the way and to be there for his entire family. His future and past he prays is in Gods hands.
