Ion Sapdaru was a Romanian theater and film actor and director. He was born on August 4, 1961 in Dorotcaia , Moldova. He graduated from the Chisinau Theater Faculty in 1983 and the VGIK Film Faculty from Moscow in 1989. In 2002, he played his first role in the movie Pe aripile vinului. Other notable roles in films: A fost sau n-a fost? (2006), Doar cu buletinul la Paris (2015), Afacerea Est (2016). Since 1990 he was the actor and director of the "Vasile Alecsandri" National Theater in Iasi. In 2007 he won the Gopo Award for best actor in main role. He was married with actress Anne Marie Chertic. They had a son Petrica.
