Hidetoshi Oneda was born May 6, 1967 in New York City. After graduating from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, he joined Japanese advertising giant Dentsu, Inc., in 1992. He began as a print ad Art Director, but after winning the Grand Prix at the Mainichi Advertising Design Awards the same year, he was encouraged to work on television commercials. He was one of Dentsu's first Creative Directors to create advertising for interactive media. His main clients were Toyota Motor Corporation, where he directed 14 "bB" spots (known in the U.S. market the as the Scion Xb), and The Coca-Cola (Japan) Company, where he directed spots and assisted in the product development of a calcium fortified children's drink called "Cal-King."
