Born in the Bronx, New York City, a son of the late Isidore & Sadie Bugin, he was a graduate of the New York Public School system and a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. He played a number of musical instruments including the base,guitar, tuba, and others. In 1957 he married the former Aphrodite Manickas of Pawtucket, RI in New York City, at which time Mrs.Bugin began a career in advertising spanning 30 years. Initially with McCann-Ericson Advertising Agency and later with Ted Bates & Company/Advertising from 1958-1987, when Ted Bates became a part of the Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Agency. While at Ted Bates, she served as a TV & Radio Commercial Production Business Manager, on national accounts including Brown & Williamson (Viceroy and Kool cigarettes) ; U.S. Navy; M&M/Mars (M&M & Snickers accounts); Warner Lambert (Rolaids, Efferdent & Hall's Cough Drops) among many others. They resided in Jackson Heights, NY until his death on October 6, 2005. In addition to a long and accomplished film career, Harry Bugin was also a professional musician (string bass, bass guitar) with top "Big Bands" from 1947-1970, including: - Glenn Miller (with Ray Mckinley) 1960's - Tex Beneke (1956/57) - Ray McKinley (1960's) - Vaughn Monroe (1960's) - Sammy Kaye (1960's) Harry Bugin's stage credits include: - Twigs 1974 (w/Vivian Blaine) - Swede (National Tour) - Twelves Anger Men - Juror # 10 - Rita Hayworth Theatre)
