Director. Writer. Studied theatre sciences. Travelled through Europe and North Africa between 1945 and 1955. Has written poems, novels, essays as well as plays. In 1966 his novel 'Venedig liegt bei Cleve' was published. 1973 his radio play 'Der Tod meines Vaters' (1972) has been awarded with the 'Hoerspielpreis der Kriegsblinden'. Co-founder of the german distribution company 'Filmverlag der Autoren'. Between 1975 and 1977 he worked as a lecturer at the Hochschule fuer Fernsehen und Film (HFF) in Munich. In the recent past he concentrated on TV and directed several movies of the 'Tatort' series, a TV co-production of Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
