Gustavo Galvão was born in Brasilia, Brazil, on August 18th, 1976. He directed and released three feature films and seven shorts between 2002 and 2019, shown at over 120 festivals worldwide and acquired by major TV broadcasters and platforms. Galvão's first feature film, Nine Chronicles for a Screaming Heart (Nove Crônicas para um Coração aos Berros, 2012), won a special mention from the FIPRESCI Jury at the 31st International Film Festival of Uruguay and was released throughout Latin America on Netflix and on Apple TV. His second feature film, the critically acclaimed A Violent Dose of Anything (Uma Dose Violenta de Qualquer Coisa, 2013), was released in 17 cities in Brazil. The third feature directed by Galvão, We Still Have the Deep Black Night (Ainda Temos a Imensidão da Noite, 2019), was also released in 17 cities. In 2021/2022, it reached the main platforms in 118 countries and territories, including the USA, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and throughout Latin America. Graduated in Journalism at the University of Brasilia and in Filmmaking at the Escuela Universitaria de Artes y Espectáculos (Madrid, Spain), the filmmaker has been working also as curator and programmer of film festivals and exhibits since 2004.
