Gary Sturm is a native of Los Angeles. After a stint in the Air Force, he returned to study acting at El Camino College. Gary later played leading roles in or directed a number of Los Angeles area theater productions. He received rave reviews for his role as "Nico" in the original play, Yesterday's Tomorrow. He later wrote and directed his well-received short film, The Casualty that would appear years later on HBO. After directing a TV pilot, he married and left the business to finish his education (MA English Language and Literature), write, and focus on "real" life. He would eventually have two sons and a daughter. Later divorced, he made several trips to Europe where he got a first-hand look behind the "Iron Curtain" in East Germany and Hungary. Gary was at the Berlin Wall in its final days. Remarried, he moved to Japan for four years to teach English and writing. Upon his return, he taught English at Los Angeles Pierce College. Gary returned to acting in 2000 and has since appeared in, or done voice overs for a number of commercials. He has played leading roles in several independent film productions, and is the author of a short story collection and two novels: Dreamers and Other Stories, The Secrets of Time, and The Shepherd of Destiny, respectively. Gary Lives near Los Angeles with his wife, Etsuko.
