Frank Cousins was born on Nov 07, 1940 in British West Indies [now Jamaica]. Frank Cousins left the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London having gained the prestigious Acting Prize. He appeared extensively on British television and on the London Stage before founding his own fringe theater company, 'The Dark & Light Theatre' in South London.At the time (1970s) this was the only Black theater in Britain to have its own Theatre building, Longfield Hall. As well as productions in its hone venue, the theater company toured extensively throughout the British Isles, showcasing Black actors in groundbreaking contemporary works by Black playwrights.Frank's work with the Dark & Light Theatre has recently been recognized by Lambeth Council, South London, and now forms part of the innovative 'Black History Walk' around the Borough. Frank was selected by Great Britain to direct the UK's drama entry to FESTAC (Festival of Black & African Arts) held in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1977.Currently he and his wife live in Spain, and Frank travels extensively in the USA and Caribbean.
