Eugen Barbu was born on Feb 20, 1924 in Romania. Eugen Barbu's big-screen debut came with Haiducii directed by Dinu Cocea in 1966. Eugen Barbu is known for Drumul oaselor directed by Doru Nastase, Florin Piersic stars as Margelatu and Marga Barbu as Agata Slatineanu. The upcoming new movie Eugen Barbu plays is Drumul oaselor which will be released on May 19, 1980.

Born in Bucharest in 1924; at age of 19, during the WWII, when Romania was still occupied by Nazi Germany, enrolles in the Police (Gendarmerie) Academy. After the Russian communist occupation of Romania in 1944, begins in 1947 to publish pamphlets and procommunist articles. In 1956 publish 3 novels about Romanian soccer teams, and next year appears his masterpiece "Groapa" about the hard life of working class in the surrounding villages of Bucharest. His novels are translated all around communist countries of Eastern Europe. Starting 1965 works in cinematography industry, as a writer, and is prolific, producing 16 movies, and a TV serial of 7 movies of 55 min. each. His wife stars almost in all his movies. Since 1976 is a member of Romanian Academy. After Romanian uprising and death of Ceausescu, is the founder of right extremist, xenophobe party, which usually get some 5 % of the electorate votes, and is represented in the Parliament. Died in Bucharest in 1993.
