Eric Dickson

writer, casting director, producer

Eric Dickson was born on Nov 11, 1976 in USA. Eric Dickson's big-screen debut came with Dark Games directed by Charles Hage in 2011.

Youngest of two children to television personality and professional fisherman Don Dickson (Don Dickson's Structure Fishing Challenge), Eric too had the deep desire to one day become a master in his field. At age 17, he began reading several books on the craft of screenwriting which led to several completed feature length scripts in the coming years. By 26 he landed his first big opportunity when he collaborated with actress Nicole Travolta and first time director Charles Hage on the promotional teaser trailer The Utah Murder Project. The screenplay as well as the trailer drew interest from such actors as Amy Smart, Oz Perkins and Jeff Conaway, co-star of the blockbuster hit Grease and close friend of Nicole's Uncle John Travolta.Although the film would eventually fall through due to financing, Eric and Hage would go on to collaborate on the 2007 horror indie Dark Games which featured an all star cast of 80's movie icons. This included Martin Kove, Brian Thompson, Danny Trejo and the return of Jeff Conaway, which marked the second collaboration with director Hage.In 2011, Eric began his first draft of Niner, a police thriller about a rogue cop charged with the wrongful death of a man he may or may not have thrown from a fourth story balcony. In 2012, Eric was contacted by graduate student Grant Pichla who expressed serious interest in turning Niner into his feature film debut. Over the next year, Eric and Pichla worked out the bugs in the script and the project was filmed in late 2013. Niner remained on the top 20 most popular screenplays on Amazon Studios from 2011-2016 and went through 13 drafts before it was selected for production. After the film's premiere, Niner would go on to play in limited release for the next several weeks. Pichla and the film's producer Kevin Neil Smith made sure that all proceeds not collected by the theaters were donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In the following years, Eric had his share of missed opportunities and disappointments. He was contacted by award winning director Douglas Elford-Argent (Fragmented) regarding his original screenplay Squad Room. After Argent won best director and best picture at the Pasadena International Indie Film Festival, he announced Squad Room as his next feature length project. Even with the acting muscle of Michael Gross and Jason Ritter considering major roles in the film, Squad Room could not raise enough interest from investors and quickly fell through.More recently, Eric has completed Bricktown Heroes for director Sam Logan Khaleghi and The Night Watchers for director Brian Farmer and West Sixth Films. He is currently collaborating with producers Braden Norton-Spingola and first time director Stacy Langenkamp on the found footage horror indie The People in the Trees.
