Elsa Beskow was born on Feb 11, 1874 in Sweden. Elsa Beskow's big-screen debut came with Tant Grön, Tant Brun och Tant Gredelin directed by Rune Lindström in 1947.

Elsa Beskow was a popular Swedish author and illustrator of children's books. Beskow grew up in Stockholm where she studied art. She is most known for Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender that has become a classic and are continually reprinted. The Elsa Beskow Award was created in 1958 to recognize the year's best Swedish picture book illustrator.
