Eduardo Durão was born in Portugal and is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles since 2000. He studied at the acclaimed London Film School with a scholarship awarded by the Portuguese Ministry of Culture. His directorial debut, the Spanish Language, 35mm, short film (35 minutes) "Regreso A Casa" (Returning Home), which he also produced and edited, shot on location in Mexico, was in competition at the 2002 Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. Eduardo recently produced and directed the short film "À Espera" (Waiting), based on an original script that he wrote. This film gathers some of the finest actors of Portugal and was shot by the Portuguese acclaimed cinematographer Acácio de Almeida (Pedro Costa, Alain Tanner, Raoul Ruiz). "À Espera" is now in post-production. In 2009 he started the production of the feature film, Portuguese Language, "Brilhante" (Brilliant), which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival production forum "Les club des Producteurs de Cannes" in 2005. This film, also an original script, which he will direct, will be shot by acclaimed Polish Los Angeles based cinematographer Jacek Laskus (Jonathan Demme, Robert Altman). Unfortunately, due to the actual panorama of the Portuguese cinema where governmental funding has been interrupted, "Brilhante" is at the moment in stand by. He co-directed the feature film, "Bram Stoker, the Way of the Vampire", for the production company The Asylum in Los Angeles, 2004. He Edited and post-production supervised "The Marriage Undone" HD24p short film for Bokken Films, shot in Los Angeles, an Official Selection of the 2002 Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. Other work include: personal assistant for cinematographer Christopher Doyle (Yimou Zhang's "Hero", Wong Kar-wai's "Happy Together"), and assistant producer for the Oscar winner producer Ron Bozman, (Jonathan Demme's "Silence of Lambs", "Philadelphia"), for the feature film "The Tempest" (Julie Taymor); project developer for the Golden Globe nominee producer Edward Bass ("Bobby"). He worked for companies like Original Productions, Smash Box/Quixote Studios, Photogenics Media, Fox Network, Dakota Films, Larry Levinson Productions, Polestar Entertainment; as a director, producer, field director and field producer, editor and camera man. He was also associate producer and post-production supervisor for animation Tv Teaser "Lab Rats", directed by acclaimed actor Bob Saget ("Full House", "Bumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd", "Law&Order") and director ("Farce of the Penguins", "Becoming Dick"). He also taught editing at the New York Film School in Los Angeles. Eduardo holds a degree in Business Communications from Portugal. His post-graduate studies include: Directing Actors - UCLA Extension; Producing Digital Effects - UCLA Extension; and Acting Technique - Stella Adler Academy.
