The son of a funeral director and a record dealer, Doc Butler originates from the tiny village of Feckenham in Worcestershire, England. He is the oldest of 6 siblings, which all at some point have worked in film (Peter Butler, Emma Bracegirdle, John Butler, Rebecca Butler & Oobah Butler).On Television, Doc played Gordon Packer in Call The Midwife and James Woodgate in Coronation Street between 2019-2022. Most of his life on screen has been working with the production company Little Balloon, a collective of his brothers and friends creating comedy films & series. Butler himself created and wrote In The Bin and World of Beercraft. He also worked a lot with Oobah on various pranks for VICE, including the now famous Shed At Dulwich and playing an interpretation of Chris on Eggheads with the Oobunch.Butler is an active writer, producer & director and is in production with his debut feature film A Morbid Fascination, which was put on hold because of COVID, but will pick up in 2022 with his own company; Moonshine. He is also in pre-production with his new film Bugtown.For the most part, Doc is a character actor, giving deep and sensitive performances mainly within the realms of dark comedy and drama. Although he has no formal training, he has explored and adventured this planet as much as he has studied the people that inhabit it, giving him a broad scope of reference. His fascination and love for the diversity in the world is expressed truthfully through the filter that is his creative guise.
