Dee Dee Divine is a graduate of Seneca's Acting for Camera & Voice Program (September 2017- April 2019). Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, she is a South African - Canadian, Trans - Female Stage Actor, Playwright, Countertenor/Mezzo-Soprano, and Screenwriter. She co-wrote the play, Face Your Fears with Abstract Artist Kyla Yager, which encourages the use of art as a coping mechanism for mental health and invisible disabilities. In August of 2021, it went on to play at Thornhill Theatre Space's Virtual Fringe Festival, as well as the Fringe North Virtual Theatre Festival.Her upcoming stage credits include The God Committee (Virtual Prod., Penny & Pound Theatre), Blind Date Café (Virtual Prod., Broadway Everyday Star Theatre), Apples & Oranges (Virtual Prod., Everybody Shines Productions), The Keeper (Shadow Box Theatre).Her recent stage credits include Blind Date Café (Virtual Prod., Broadway Everyday Star Theatre), The God Committee (Virtual Prod., Penny & Pound Theatre), Face Your Fears (Virtual Prod., Start the Riot Theatre Company), Operation 24: Content (Virtual Prod., The Assembly Theatre), Frozen JR. (Virtual Prod., Broadway Everyday Star Theatre), Love Letters for Juliet (Virtual Prod., Joie de Survivre & Red Lips Productions), Virtual Quarantine Quick Play Fest (Vintage Soul Productions), Angel Street (Out of the Box Community Theatre). Her playwright credits include Face Your Fears (Virtual Immersive Prod., Start the Riot Theatre Company), Almost 6 Feet Under (Emerson Arts). She also has written several indie shorts, most notably, Release (Short, 2018) and A Glass Half Full (Short, 2020), which both won Special Mention at the One-Reeler Short Film Competition based in Los Angeles.Dee Dee is currently working towards her first steps of beginning her training in Opera. Continuing to develop her voice upon discovering that she is a Countertenor and Mezzo-Soprano. She is extremely excited to begin this journey as she has had a passion for it for a very long time now. While taking private voice lessons at Académie Ste - Cécile International School - School of Music, Dee Dee is also taking piano & music theory lessons at the Canadian Conservatory of Music. Dee Dee is also putting her plans together to continue her studies. Dee Dee is a frequent traveler who enjoys exploring the beautiful gifts that this world has to offer. She is continuously overwhelmed and grateful for her family and friends' continuous love and support.
