Before making Panman, Flajnik revealed he was visiting a 7/11 restroom where he encountered a young shabby unkempt undernourished male inside the restroom. David took pity on said male and offered him a job. This male grew up to be Tim Pilleri, who then went on to co-star in Panman with Flajnik. The two remain good friends and Tim has stated multiple times that he owes his life to Flajnik and would be nothing without him. David speaks 17 different languages and regularly travels the world helping the poor and impoverished. In autumn 2019 he traveled to Sudan where he met with top government officials to discuss the welfare of young less advantaged children, a topic which is cares deeply about. He also has helped build multiple schools across Africa and ensures each school has access to clean water and at least one bag of grain. Flajnik has expressed interest in travelling to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
