Carlos Manuel Plasencia is a writer, director and producer born in the Dominican Republic living and working in New York City. In 2001 he directed and produced his first short independent film in the Dominican Republic titled "La Cortina del Palacio" which was nominated for best film at the 2005 Cassandra Awards (DR). In 2014 he wrote, directed and co-produced "Los Fabulosos Ma' Mejores", a kid's baseball film which was released in Dominican Republic theaters during the Christmas season of 2015 and won best film at the XI Kid's International Film Festival of Santo Domingo (2016) as well as being featured at the Seattle Latino Film Festival and the Chicago Latino Film Festival. In 2020 he completed his first English language film -- a sci-fi short film titled "Iridescence" which will begin a festival run in 2021.
