Branko Belan was born on Sep 15, 1912 in Austria-Hungary [now Croatia]. Branko Belan's big-screen debut came with Tunolovci directed by Branko Belan in 1948, strarring Narrator. Branko Belan is known for Moments of Decision directed by Frantisek Cáp, Stane Sever stars as Dr. Koren and Julka Staric as sestra Marija. Movie career of Branko Belan began in late 1940s, after he had received doctor's degree in law. He joined Jadran Film, newly formed movie production company in Zagreb, where he began directing documentaries. After few years he finally got chance to direct feature film. _Koncert_ is now considered to be the masterpiece and one of the best movies ever made in former Yugoslavia. However, in its time, that movie was too modernistic for contemporary critics, guided by ruling Communist idelogy. Although Belan made some minor works later, that marked the end of his movie career. Instead of making movies he began teaching on Dramma Academy and writing movie and television critics. Branko Belan was also known as very respected science-fiction writer.
