Bogdan Mirica

Bogdan Mirica was born on Apr 18, 1978 in Romania. Bogdan Mirica's big-screen debut came with Ho Ho Ho directed by Jesús del Cerro in 2009.

In 2011 Bogdan writes and directs his first short film BORA BORA, winner of Best European Short Film in Premiers Plans (Angers, France), winner of Best Romanian Short at Transylvania IFF and selected among others at Festival del Film Locarno, Warsaw IFF and Thessaloniki IFF. Soon afterwards, he was commissioned by HBO Europe to write and direct UMBRE (Shadows) - a series about the Romanian underworld - a project that turned out to be so successful that has already reached its third season and it's being broadcast in more than 20 countries. In 2016 Bogdan writes and directs his debut feature film, DOGS - a highly personal project, a western neo-noir that stems from real events that he witnessed as a child living in rural Romania. The movie received several accolades, including the FIPRESCI Prize at the Un Certain Regard competition in Cannes, Best Foreign First Film awarded by The French Syndicate of Cinema Critics and was a nominee for The European Discovery of the Year, by The European Film Academy. Currently (2019) Bogdan is wrapping the highly anticipated third season of HBO's Umbre and is set to start preproduction for his second feature film - the action-thriller BOSS.
